This is bad.

Argh!  I wrote this last night, but I never hit the "Post" button.

At 5:00 I left the house to take a little walk around Kennekuck.  A lovely walk, and I took pictures of this really odd insect., among other things, but I'll think about that later.

I got home about 7:30, and went into the dog room to fill the water bowl.  I turned on the water, and nothing happened.  This is not good.

I went into the house and discovered a big puddle covering much of my kitchen floor.  This is even less good.  I figured the water heater, which I've been worried about for a while, blew.  But when I actually poked around it, I discovered instead that water was welling up out of the floor, around where the main supply pipe enters the house.

This is really bad.

I managed, through trial and error, to locate the circuit breaker for the well and turn it off, so water stopped pouring in.  I shop-vacced up some of the water, and I guess the rest leaked out, because the puddle went away.

But now I have a house without running water, which is, shall we say, inconvenient.  On a Saturday evening, yet.  I don't know if I could find someone to start dealing with it before Monday if I spent tomorrow trying, but I think I'm going to go to EFRC anyway, because the last thing I need to help me deal with a stressful situation is to miss seeing my tiger.

Now I have to figure out how I find someone who can tell me what needs to be done to fix this situation and how much it might cost.  And then I get to wonder how I'm going to pay for it.  And once I find someone who can come out to my house and evaluate the mess, much less do anything to fix it, I'll have to take time off work to deal with it, when I just started and don't have either vacation accrued or personal capital built up.
