Wait a minute ... is that a lynx kitten?
It's a 2 month old caracal.
The caracal is a smaller African wild cat (adults are around 40 lbs.) most famous for its magnificent tufted ears. With the fastest reflexes of any cat, in the wild it hunts by jumping low-flying birds. Even at this age, a caracal is quite a handful.

Um...why is it in a bedroom? (Or, at least, a room with a chest of drawers...)
Her owner was showing her to us in his hotel room, because that's the only reasonably private containted space you have in a hotel.
I sense you may be asking a deeper question than that, but I'm supposed to be working right now, not explaining my whole philosophy about animals.
