I didn't realize that the JPEG quality setting had been set too high until I'd already uploaded these pix, but the files are twice the size they were supposed to be. I wouldn't want one of them on my friends page since I'm on dialup; ergo, they all go behind the cut.
Yesterday was the annual Pumpkin Party at EFRC, so there are some funny pumpkin pictures in here.
Gabby Girl is just about to jump up on her box to greet me.
Baby, the late Otis Lee's cage mate, has developed some endocrine problems in her old age. She's an old female, but her mane looks like a pre-adult male.
The previous shot shows off Baby's mane better, but I liked this as a picture.
This is a detail of the previous shot, to show what her eye really looks like. Artists who draw lions and tigers with slit pupils like house cats annoy me. I realized that Baby's pupil actually looks slit rather than round in these pictures because of that blemish, so I wanted to include a closeup of her eye to show that, yes, Baby's pupil really is round.
Alex got a pumpkin at the pumpkin party, but he apparently didn't get the memo that the cats are only expected to play with their pumpkins, not actually eat them. This was a fairly decent shot; it's followed by some funnier ones.
Here's Alex chomping on his pumpkin.
And here he apparently has just realized that he's a cat and he's eating vegetables.
Alex picks up his pumpkin.
By next week, Herman's group will be in their nice new cage in the new area where they won't be seen much, by me or anyone else. This is very good for Herman, who doesn't do well with strangers, but it's unfortunate for Anna, who loves attention. This is a crummy shot, but it's what Anna gave me when I said goodbye.
Prince, our oldest tiger, is 19. He's very sick now.
