So, I have been playing Magic almost every Friday night, but I've mostly been playing draft, and I've never quite bothered to record my decks. But I decided to play Standard tonight, because I have a deck that was weak months ago but I've actually gotten a few more of the expensive cards that were holding it back, and I felt like playing it. We ended up only having 8 players, and if I'd realized there weren't enough people to go four rounds I would have drafted again. There were more people when I signed up but a couple of them left.

My all-in Gray Merchant deck came in second. Not too bad. Main:
3 Clone
1 Corrupt
4 Desecration Demon
1 Far // Away
4 Gray Merchant of Asphodel
3 Hero's Downfall
3 Nightveil Specter
4 Pack Rat
1 Quag Sickness
1 Rescue from the Underworld
1 Shadowborn Demon
3 Thoughtseize
1 Thrull Parasite
1 Ultimate Price
3 Underworld Connections
2 Whip of Erebos

1 Island
1 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
14 Swamp
4 Temple of Deceit
4 Watery Grave

Side:
1 Bile Blight
1 Corrupt
4 Dark Betrayal
4 Doom Blade
1 Drown in Sorrow
1 Erebos, God of the Dead
1 Far // Away
1 Lifebane Zombie
1 Ultimate Price

This take on mono black devotion is all about getting multiples of Gray Merchant of Asphodel, with enough control along the way to make it that far. Match 1, Dan Walton was playing R/W burn, and I beat him handily in two games. Match 2, Lance McGinness had a mono-White build. The first game, he got his Heliod on line and hit me hard with a pile of clerics, but I'd gained enough life from Gray Merchants to survive and play yet another Gray Merchant for the kill. The second game went about the same. Round 3, Nishant Sundar was also playing R/W burn. I had a weak draw game 1, and couldn't get rid of his Satyr Firedancer. I gained some life but not enough. Game 2, my deck started a little slow but I drew into enough land to do my thing and got him. Game 3, I mulled a 2 lander into an OK 6 card hand, but he had a lot of pressure, and he played properly, holding back a Skullcrack until I dropped Gary, keeping me from gaining life I really needed. So 2-1 overall.
