Round 1, I faced Tom Trumpinski with his green/white renowned deck. I had enough answers to keep his threats in check, enough life gain to not get into too much danger, and enough big stuff to win two games. Round 2, Daniel Amir was playing a mono-black home brew without enough good cards. I won game 1, and then got better after boarding. Round 3, Matt Kabelitz was playing a red/white enchantments deck trying to leverage Helm of the Gods. It's cute but even with very few specific answers to enchantments, I got there. Finally, round 4, I faced Ray Phillips and his goblin horde again. I offered him a draw (which guaranteed me first place and him second), he declined. He had a weak hand game 1, and I got there. I had a weak hand and lost game 2 when he had the burn to finish me off just before I could stabilize. Offered the draw again, he declined, and then we ended up going to time. I had a lower life total and hadn't damaged him, but one board wipe would put me in the driver's seat, so I'm not sure if I would have pulled it out if we'd played it out.
I don't think I have anything new to say about the chances for Siege Rhino in the new standard, except that I think blue control is going be really good against anything Abzan can put together. Horribly Awry is nasty.
