Book Review: Tales of the Velvet Comet - Phil's Rambling Rants
Book Review: Tales of the Velvet Comet|
I think I read the first book of the sequence when it came out, but wasn't excited enough to pick up the others. Maybe they work better, despite their differences, as a whole.
And I'd always thought he was both very visible (maybe more as a personality and an editor than a writer) and mostly well-liked. He won a Nebula and a few Hugos so I wouldn't consider him all that underappreciated. Were you commenting on this specific bunch of books or in general?
I'm commenting in general. He has won some awards for his shorter fiction, and he's not unknown, but I don't think he's on many people's short lists of the best SF writers, and I think he should be. In other words, he's not unappreciated, but he is underappreciated relative to how good a writer he is.
