Well a quick web-search shows three possible canidates, besides the free version of Eudora. Please note that I do not use any of these, myself (I bought Eudora several years ago; before that, I used the mail client in Agent (a newsreader) quite a bit). Me, I HATE the MS mail clients.

Mozilla's Thunderbird (http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/): Daniel has been using this one a bit; I don't know how he's getting along with it, but I haven't heard him swearing about it

Calypso (http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/calypso/)

NetMail (http://www.internet-soft.com/netmail.htm)

Good luck finding something that works for you ...

I personally would suspect they changed something in the security/log-in process, and the tech support person hasn't a clue, but that's me - I've run into a lot of that with various tech support types lately (not the least of which is the phone support for the national overnight carrier who delivers our lab samples to our reference lab :-/ )

#$!!!!! Thunderbird ##!!%$$@ works %%#@%@ fine

There, I'm now swearing about it, but Thunderbird (from mozilla.org) works fine, does what it's supposed to, and doesn't spam you. It includes spam filtering, POP and IMAP support, and you can extend it with downloadable plug-ins.

Melissa posted a pointer to it, so I won't bother.

I hope this helps.
